A majority of Portuguese MPs were in favour of altering the law in order to ban making, owning or selling traps for wild birds. The issue will now be debated in the Environment Comission, which will define concrete proposals to draft a new law or alter the existing one (which prohibits the killing of birds but not the traps to do so). With this position, MPs took an important step to prevent the illegal killing and capture of thousands of birds in the country every year.
