The Azores Bullfinch (priolo in Portuguese) was once on the brink of extinction, but we managed to save it. Thanks to years of effort in the field, the Azores Bullfinch population is now stable — but its future survival still depends on us. This unique bird, whose only habitat in the world is a small corner of the island of São Miguel, needs a safe home and enough food to thrive.
To ensure its future, we want to plant holly and other native laurel forest plants, which are essential for this species. A rare opportunity has arisen: to purchase land adjacent to areas we have already restored. If we can buy this land, we will be able to increase the habitat and food available to the Azores Bullfinch. To do so, we need to raise between €10,000 and €20,000.*
